Janey Whitehorn
Whitehorn is a luxury British textile design company, founded by award-winning designer Janey Whitehorn in 2007.
Janey studied textiles at Winchester School of Art in the 1990's, specialising in weaving and dyeing. A love of fabric and texture, combined with a deep understanding of colour theory and appreciation for design, led Janey on a path to discover and experiment with the process of marbling in her Buckinghamshire studio.
Through the application of a distinct modern colour palette and playing around with scale, Janey developed a contemporary and individual understanding of these much heralded designs; fusing ancient marbling techniques with unique colour combinations creating luxury hand dyed silks for interiors.
Through the Whitehorn brand, Janey has had her work featured in leading interiors magazines including The World of Interiors, House and Garden, The Financial Times How To Spend It, Wallpaper, Craft and Elle Decoration. Whitehorn has exhibited at international trade show and events including Decorex, 100% Design, Pulse and The Chelsea Craft Fair and featured in various international editions of Vogue including British, American and Indian.
In the past Whitehorn collections have been sold in Harrods, Liberty's, Charleston and collaborated with The House of Sophie Hallette in Paris.
Whitehorn has also been stocked in museums and galleries including London's The V&A, The Royal Academy of Arts, The National Maritime and the Ashmolean in Oxford.
In 2022 Whitehorn was approached by Warner Bros. Pictures to supply marbled wash bags to feature in the new Barbie film, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, released in cinemas in Summer 2023.
"Janey Whitehorn's lampshades are so vibrant that you don't even need to turn on the lamp to bring a room to life. The hand marbling technique used to create them means that each one is unique."
